Bridging the Gap With The Crossover
We’re pleased to announce that we have been chosen as a Tyson Foods grant recipient. This investment by our Tyson allows Woodland and Ramay students to be involved in literacy events that will encourage them to become more engaged readers.
Students will read The Crossover, a novel by Kwame Alexander that mixes basketball with family and coming-of-age themes to tell an uplifting and inspiring story.
The project will culminate with a live SKYPE presentation by Kwame to discuss his book, The Crossover, with the students.
As part of the Fayetteville Public Library True Lit Festival, Kwame Alexander will speak at Fayetteville Public Library Tuesday, October 30, at 7 pm and to Fayetteville High School 9th graders through the Foundation’s Blair Author and Lecture Series.
Kwame Alexander is a poet, educator, and the New York Times Bestselling author of 25 books, including Rebound, the follow-up to his, Newbery-medal winning novel, The Crossover and The Playbook: 52 Rules to Help You Aim, Shoot, and Score in this Game of Life.
